 About Us

Hi, We're Chris & Karen Treece

Back in 2018, we decided it was time to start exploring the beautiful places on our bucket lists. As it turns out, our favorite place on the planet is the gorgeous island of St. John, the smallest of the United States Virgin Islands (USVI). (Stopping here real quick to say that Saint John is NOT Saint John’s. There are other places named St. John’s but not in the USVI.) Now, back to our story. We absolutely adore St. John, USVI and have spent 8 weeks thus far on the beautiful island we call home. Our goal is to provide you all the information you need to vacation like a local when visiting this incredible treasure. We will include tips on how to travel, what to pack, do’s and don'ts on the island (VERY important), best times to travel, best places to eat, where to shop, how to schedule the best day trips to other islands, our favorite beaches, best places to snorkel, best bars, best grocery stores, where to stay, and so much more!!! There are many videos and a lot of content about traveling to the USVI, but Karen and I will show you how to vacation like a local. Enjoy and Thank you for following us!!!

WHY WE'RE DIFFERENT

We are not your typical travelers. We very rarely stay in resorts (as a matter of fact, we have only spent 2 nights in a resort during our years of travel so far), never stay in hotels (except if needed for one night transitioning to our destination), and never B&Bs. We also don’t travel via cruise ships. Nothing against any of them. We just prefer a different way. We want to experience what the island residents experience. In other words, we want to live like the locals!! We want to eat, drink, shop, drive and share stories like the locals do. We love interacting with and learning about different cultures and their people. Our information will give you better insight on how to navigate different places rather than just reading it on the internet. We live it, breathe it and embrace it!!!

About dem Donkeys They wander FREE and are so darn cute! But there are some do’s and don’ts. PLEASE don’t stop your car in the middle of the road, especially in a blind curve, to take photos with them. PLEASE do stop at overlooks or pull off the road for a quick photo of them when not on Centerline or N. Shore Rds. PLEASE don’t feed them Human food (especially vacation food), as it is not good for their bellies. PLEASE do stop into Coral Bay’s Carolina Corral. There you can be hands-on giving them your love and care. We love our animals here and share the road with them. Our roads are not the safest, you’ve noticed? For your safety, the local drivers’ safety, and the animals’ safety, please do not encourage them to get too used to walking up to cars for any reason. It’s too painful to lose one.
